Campus Crusher

Frequently asked questions

Playing

Is it free? Do I need to install anything?

Yes, it's free, and there's nothing to install. Both games run in a web browser, with no account.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. On a phone you tap to smash, drag to move and pinch to zoom, and Campus Walk gives you an on-screen stick. Very large campuses are heavy on older phones, so try a smaller school if things slow down.

What's the difference between the two games?

Campus Crusher is about destruction, scores and school-against-school rankings. Campus Walk has no smashing at all: you explore on foot or by skateboard, ride the bus and fill a passport. You can also switch to walking from inside Campus Crusher.

Will my smashing affect a real building's record, or anything real?

No. Nothing you do changes the map or any real-world data. A campus comes back as soon as you press Rebuild or reload.

The map

Why is a building missing, misplaced or the wrong height?

The campuses are built from OpenStreetMap, and volunteers have mapped some schools much more fully than others. If a building has no height in the map, the game estimates one from its type. You can fix the source, or use the Report button in the game.

Why are some buildings unnamed?

They have no name in the map. Of the 158,201 buildings in the game, 89,037 have one.

My school isn't listed. Can you add it?

Usually, if OpenStreetMap has its buildings. Send the school's name and city.

Can I use this to find my way around campus?

No. It's a game built on volunteer map data, and it may be out of date. Use your school's official map for anything that matters.

Rankings

How does the Destruction ranking work?

It adds up the buildings smashed by everyone playing, for each school. Your smashes count for the campus you're on, not necessarily the school you attend.

Why did the totals drop?

Scripts have been used to inflate the leaderboards, so there are rate limits and fake activity gets removed. Normal play isn't affected.

The project

Is this made by my university?

No. These are unofficial fan games, not affiliated with or endorsed by any school. More about the project.

Do you collect my data?

You don't need an account or a name to play. The privacy policy sets out what's stored, including how advertising works.
